the implications of copyrights

The legal issue of copyrighting has had a major impact on the construction of my e-portfolio. As i have created the e-portfolio to be about me and my interests etc i intended to include a music playlist of songs which represented me, and these would play whenever somebody signed on. It was going to be too difficult to gain the permissions needed to play an artists song on my site due to all the legal and copyright issues i would have to deal with. This issue affected almost everyone in the class as most of us were relying on music to play a major part in our e-portfolios.

So considering i wasnt going to be able to play any music i decided to write about the types of music i liked and what part it plays in my life. At least this way my music can still be part of my e-portfolio.

using a mac

We are now well into the second half of the semester and i am still not confident with using the Mac computers, i am still doing things as if they are a normal PC. It is very frustrating when things don't work and files won't upload. This has been my biggest problem. Simply locating a file is a big drama! I have had alot of trouble trying to access and move files as well as opening them once they've been uploaded onto my eportfolio. I don't really know much about technology and admitedly I don't have much patience for it either, so this adds to my stresses of not been able to complete my work. I've spoken to a few other students and they are having the same problems as me so i guess we are all in the same boat. I have to admit the new commercials on tv do make Mac computers look amazing and fun but when it comes to using one...that's a whole other story.

Despite all my whinging i think it is important to learn how to use the Macs properly firstly so that we dont waste time locating files and playing around with it, and secondly because it is important to develop our computer skills and generally knowing our way around the computers. Hopefully with enough practice using the Mac computers will become second nature.

designing my eportfolio

Even though we have just handed in assessment task one i am still not sure of how i would like to set out my e-portfolio or the purpose i wish to take. Originally i wanted to do the whole thing on Myer-Briggs and their work but i think this will be hard to complete due to the copyright issues, so i have decided to make this eportfolio about me and life at university.

Because this will be about me there is some personal information which i do not want others especialy those i do not know to view, so this will be a major consideration i will need to take. I need to assess what i want to make public and what information i want to remain private.

Assembling my artefacts will mean learning alot about myself and what i want from my future. I need to think ahead and see what i want to get out of this course and want my ambitions for my career are. If i can manage this then creating my eportfolio should become alot easier.
