E-porfolio Reflection
Overall I have found the subject E-portfolio to be valuable. Developing the webpage has proven at times to be a bit tough as I’m used to using Myspace and I found it a bit hard to navigate the digital dialogue website. Usually I am not very computer literate and I need a lot of assistance when using technology of any kind. However after using the website and Macs at university for a while I have come to realise that it isn’t as difficult as I first suspected. Of course I also needed a lot of help from our teacher and was lucky that my class had a very good one!!! Thank you Roman!! After many hours I have finally compiled all of my relevant information, although some was not included in the first assignment there are a significant number of artifacts for everyone to browse through. I’m hoping that I have completed this to a satisfactory level as I have put a lot of time into it. Through doing this subject I have learnt that there are many ways of communicating with people and that there are many people out there who would be interested in information that goes on the website. I have also spent time browsing through other people’s pages and there are many people creating the website to store their artifacts like me.
At the beginning of e-portfolio I was having difficulty getting my head around the concept. I understood that it was an online portfolio but I didn’t understand how we were going to get all our information online. I definitely thought the task would be a lot harder than it was. For some reason I was thinking that we would have to create our own webpage from scratch and I wasn’t looking forward to that!! It wasn’t until we had started the second assignment that I realised what was going on. I am grateful it wasn’t what I thought it would be!
When I first logged on to digital dialogues I didn’t really understand it. I began to complete the information for the introduction page and wasn’t sure why they wanted my address and what it meant by public or private. I didn’t fill in some of the information as I wouldn’t want people knowing all of those details about me. I then had further problems understanding where to upload my documents. That was until I realised the different links to click on, once I found these I had no problems uploading. Luckily I have a scanner so I didn’t have to wait until class to have all my files scanned. That would have been very frustrating.
When creating my profile I was aiming to share with my class mates and other people who I am and help them to understand what I enjoy and what I have achieved in the past. I think it is a good opportunity for everyone to get to know each other a little better. I am also hoping that I will be able to use this in the future and continue storing data on it.
