Weblog for Managing People and Organisations
This subject is an introductory subject for Management. This subject reminded me more of a giant high school than any other subject. This was because; most of our work was based on one text book. This subject was certainly the most popular subject that I have taken. For the first time, I saw strangers carrying around the same text book on the train.
This subject is about the many different management styles and theories made up on God’s green earth. It was well taught, and our learning was a good balance of lectures, class work and assessments. This was the first subject which had a large amount of the assessment based on an exam. This forced me to study the way I did in high school i.e. memorisation and repetition. Even though I went well in the exam, a lot of what I have studied was surface learning, meaning that as soon as I walked out of the exam room, I would have lost most of what I had studied.
