Updated!

ok. I have recently updated things I need to do with my e-portfolio and I think it looks really good (so far). I think the audience will get to know me that much better and know my passion for this 'particular something.' I figured that there are some things that I will keep private and some that can only be accessed by logged in users. I modified my resume so that there was no address and stuff. I'm thinking why would they need it? Are they going to come to my house and offer me a job? NO! So a number would do just fine.

I also had to xxx some reference numbers because I got a call from one of my managers a few weeks ago saying some crazy person called her and said the word "job" and "eddie." I was like WTF!

I think that I shouldn't put too much personal information about me because this is an "E"-portfolio which means that anybody in the world can have access to this, even stalkers. I know one thing for sure is that I have learnt a lot of new things about creating this e-portfolio and about myself (I think).

Well it's all updated so now I play the waiting game.

I hope that who ever reads this enjoys this as much as I enjoy creating it.

I also like to emphasise that an e-portfolio is like a rock. It might look dull and worthless on the outside, but if you try look hard enough, you might see things that you would have never imagined of all the things it went through in its lifetime. Do you get what I mean? I don't... but it sounds cool.

ANYWAYS ENJOY!

Personal Reflection on the Learning Experiences of BAOL (E-portfolio)

I am currently in my first year, second semester at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) studying a Bachelor of Arts in Organisational Learning. Previously in 2005, I studied a Bachelor of Information Technology at Macquarie University, however I came to realise that the IT field was not of interest to me. Transferring into my current course has given me the opportunity to experience a different view on learning, particularly continual learning within organisations.

As I reflect back on my own learning experience this year, my studies provided me with solid knowledge in many areas of organisational learning and Human Resources Development. I enjoyed the subjects and they have opened up new career paths for me. My major is business and I most enjoyed these subjects and have grown a strong interest in the grounds of business. It was after this subject (E-portfolio) that I decided to attempt a transfer to a Bachelor of Business and major in HR. This subject led me to reflect on my future ambitions for my career development. Hopefully, I will be accepted for this transfer with a 48 points credit average which I anticipate on maintaining by the end of this semester.

At the beginning of this subject, I could not comprehend why we were to make an e-portfolio and how it would help me in my academic and career development. However, completing the tasks of collecting artefacts and reflecting on my inner journey has answered all those questions that were running through my mind at the start. This assessment task of creating my own digital portfolio has allowed me to really reflect back on my life and all that I have accomplished. It has also given me the opportunity to explore the constant development of my academic and personal skills. I believe that this is an invaluable tool for the ongoing process of my experienced learning and growth and will be of much assistance in the future. This subject has definitely been a learning curve and a major contribution to my self-development.

The semester is drawing to an end, however it is just the beginning of my e-portfolio development. It has been another fabulous year of experiencing new things and the opening of new opportunities.

Interesting . .

I've just recently learnt from Georgina that you can change the format and displays of this whole thing.
Georgina knew allot about programing and web-design so she managed to change the colours and made her own customized background for the whole site.
Very impressive, but i have yet to learn how to do that, but i've changed mine already by going through some settings on this site, so it was pretty interesting.
Well im nearly done, with posting up all my artefacts and files to complete my e-portfolio.
So im just going to do some final touch ups and check everything.
My learning experience throughout this subject has been very enjoyable and i hope i can continue something like this in the future.

Mirror! Mirror! On the wall . . . - Episode 5 *FINALE*

Have I changed at all? This is the question I am currently asking myself at the end of what is pretty much another school year. Having completed roughly 12 weeks of e-portfolio, I have to admit that it’s been quite a journey, one which has involved a lot of self-reflection and thinking.

At the beginning, this journey had a vague destination and as each week passed by at frightening speeds what with all the assignments, work and life’s problems to worry about. The first stop in reflection for this subject was when we were required to write a digital story for our e-portfolio. At the time, I had very little idea on what I would conjure up, so I decided to stick with a short script, which took bits and pieces out of actual events during my life. Looking back at the script more than half a semester later has left me wondering how much better I am in my current position. Of course, after reading my story again, there’s no doubt that I’ve changed and achieved a fair bit since then, something which I’m proud of =)

Things didn’t get interesting until we had to dig for hidden and buried treasures/artefacts, things which held some sort of sentiment or relation to our learning experiences. Pool was one of the first things which came to my mind as I’ve spent the past year or so playing pool once a week with two of my closest mates from high school. As a result of this treasure digging, it’s quite amazing to see the progress and improvement made from when I first started playing pool at the beginning of last year.

Another artefact I found revolved around my favourite past times of games. In particular, Warcraft 3 was one of those games, which consumed a countless number of sleeping hours throughout the year. And well… this game is damn popular (even now and for a long time to come) and aside from having improved in learning how to play this game, I’ve made a lot of social contacts with other gamers. I think it’s quite something to realise how many millions of people around my age play this game and the endless possibilities of social interactions involved between these people. Guess I also have the internet to thank for that.

A few other important artefacts include my TAFE transcripts and resume. This subject and course in general continued to emphasise the interrelatedness between career and education. And now, my mind is continually being boggled with what sort of career/education path/s I would follow in the future. The photo artefacts were the more touching and emotional part of this journey. Instead of finding a few photos to put onto my e-portfolio, I spent most of the time reminiscing the good times of which all those photos captured =*).

One of the activities we did in class involved finding a piece of music/song, which would reflect what our e-portfolios are about. If I were to choose any song that best represents everything that this subject has taught me from the journey, reflection to the learning experiences and great time I had with class mates, it would be:

Green Day – Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)

I’d love to post up and share this song, but that would infringe on copyright HAHA XD

Overall, I have to say that this subject was quite fun as there was always something interesting that would be happening in class relating to our e-portfolios. One of those would be learning how to use the MACs. They are pretty nifty, even though the ones we used were much older than the better-looking and faster white ones I usually see around campus.

Well, hope you’ve enjoyed this series… which strangely enough never actually had a name, but I’ll leave it up to your imagination to come up with one =)

Remember, it’s not the destination that matters the most, but the journey, learning and development that is undertaken, which enriches us. And I reckon my e-portfolio has mirrored part of that journey.

THE END

Woohoo! - Episode 4

Just completed my e-portfolio and spiced up the games and interests section. One small issue is that most of the files on the site are .MHT instead of HTML, which can be downloaded like normal web pages.

The reason for using the MHT format is because all the pictures and links, etc are contained withing one file whereas HTML requires the user to place external links to pictures. So for the sake and convenience of your viewing pleasure, MHT would be more appropriate.

The following sections will contain MHT files:
- Home/Index
- Purpose
- Disclaimer
- Games/Warcraft 3

The other files within the site will follow the usual HTML format.

Also, there is an 'Academia' folder, which contains a copy of my information architecture, 1st eportfolio assignment & my digital story.

On the next episode, we'll be concluding our exciting series, so don't miss the finale!

Converting to pee dee ef

It is official. My e-portfolio will be comprised with three main section and several sub folders in each. I have started to create my artefacts through word document. However, one thing that has bothered me is that people can change and format of what I intended to put it. I was thinking about copyright laws and how it can affect my piece so I came up with a decision to turn my documents that I created in Word and convert them to a pdf file.

The problem was that I didn't know how to do it. But after searching through google on how to create one, I finally now know. Not hard indeed but it does take some time and patience. Yes google is everybody's friend as it can help you with anything. Google even taught me different meanings of what is e-portfolio.

So some of my artefacts are already converted to pdf and have already been uploaded. I won't have to think about people editing my stuff now, which is a good thing.

I can see that my e-portfolio has gone a through a series of changes and it doesn't look like what I initially intended it to be. This is because of the new things I learnt in this subjec and I guess I can see that change is inevitable. I just need to add some pictures to my e-portfolio so that it won't look boring. Until then, only time will tell.

Copyright, copyleft

So I started going through my Assignement 2 Part 2 of this subject which is a table of all my artefacts that i will be puting in this e-portfolio. It basically gives a brief description, location, format and any copyright issues that may arise.

Ellen (the lecturer) strongly emphasised the importance of copyright issues. That anything that is not yours can not be uploaded onto our e-portfolio unless with consent. That was a big blow as I was going to upload music here but I guess I can't since I'll be breaking copyright laws.

This however, has made me make slight changes as to the format and structure of my e-portfolio. I will not be having a Music folder so an alternative must be made in order to surrogate what what was intended to be there in the first place. Therefore, this has made me very meticulous as what information I will be adding. Whilst it is based on individual circumstances, there are things that may need external sources in order to clarify parts that are not easily understood when expressed by word of mouth such as the automotive section.

Currently, I have now formed the folders that I will need for my e-portfolio and I hope I don't change anything. If I do, then............ GRRRR!!!!

Last e-portfolio class

Today is our last class,
We finished of with a discussion of some of the things we have learnt through out this subject.
I think one of the main things i've learnt from this subject is the actual meaning of e-portfolios.
Before i even started this subject i had no idea what e-portfolios where.
My idea of it was some sort of electronic learning or recordings.
So when i actually did find out what it was, i found out that its not as complicated as i thought it would be.
This whole e-portfolio subject is based on a learning log and recordings on a website.
Because i didn't really do much web-designing before, i thought it would be hard for me to do this subject and to design your own website.
But all the clear and simple steps and instructions have helped me through this learning process and im already starting to upload all of my files and trying to design it as best as i can.
This is great, because it also helpes me develop my web-design skills and all the other things i didn't know about web-design and e-portfolios earlier.

Thats all for today,

Busy Week! - Episode 2

About time I have the chance to spruce up my e-portfolio a bit, so far, I've created all my folders according to my information architecture, updated my profile and uploaded a couple of my artefacts. There'll be more goodies in the form of HTML files and jpegs during the weekend =) After all that, a reflection of my eportfolio and experiences in this subject will follow.

I had work from 12 - 8pm on Monday, Tuesday AND Wednesday T_T" It was so tiring!!!

Anywho, off to a party tonight to get rid of that excess stress =) Have a good weekend everybody!

University Reflection

I am Currently in my first year at the University of Technology, Sydney studying Bachelor of Arts in Organisational learning. My reasons for choosing this course was because in high school I was always interested in the field of Human Resource. In particular I want to become a Human Resource recruitment consultant.

Last semester I completed four subjects which all provided me with the basic managerial theories, techniques and the different structures of many organizations. We also learnt about the different types of communication techniques taking into consideration the different cultural and language barriers that may exist in companies. The subjects that I successfully completed were: Managing people and organizations, Human resource development in organizations, Language, Culture and Communication and Adult learning and work. These subjects also gave me an insight of the different roles in HR as we studied the responsibilities of all HR practitioners.

Currently, I am in the process of completing an additional four subjects that have furthered my knowledge in Human Resource Development. These are: Knowledge management, E-portfolio, Analysing Organisational Needs and Work and people. E-portfolio has been a subject that is both interesting and of value to me.. Management Knowledge was a subject that explained and made me realise the Importance of not only having knowledge but sharing knowledge as well. I have learnt about the different sources of knowledge and how international corporations such as 3M have utilised knowledge and managed it well to become as successful as they are.
E-portfolio has helped me create a digital portfolio of myself that allows me to reflect on my achievements and my goals. I am now aware of the procedures that one must follow when creating an E-portfolio such as acknowledging copyrighted artefacts. An E-portfolio is very useful as I am able to upload documents of my achievements and qualifications to try and impress any potential employers. At first I found it rather boring learning about things that I already had a basic knowledge about as I have previously completed a subject in High School called Information Processes and Technology which has similar concepts to E-portfolio. However, as the semester progressed the coursework became a little bit more interesting and at times got rather confusing, e.g. the development of my tree diagram and content inventory was rather difficult.

When I first started to create my e-portfolio I was rather confused as I have never created a blog or website like this before. It took me a little while to work out the functions of digital dialogues and I soon began loading up documents at ease. Adding friends and observing their e-portfolios was also quite interesting as I began learning things about them I never knew before

Overall I have been very satisfied with my university experience as well as my experience in E-portfolio. It has further shaped my understandings of Human Resource and am now looking forward to completing not only this semester but my degree as well.

Came from Squash!

Hey i just came from a good work out.
Played squash with a couple of friends just then.
Well anyway.. i have finished creating all my folders.
So now i will have to work out what files i need to put in there.
Since i have a storage upload limit, i have to pic out small files and pictures to put up there.
That i will have to work out very soon.
This website is easy to operate and anyone would learn how to use it quickly. So im enjoying this at the moment.
Im planning on posting up some Midi files ( music samples of my bands original songs ) which would be great because midi files are small.
Im also planning to post up more text files of descriptions and some pictures of friends and things.
So that would be pretty cool!
Well i better get all of that started then!
cya!

Wednesday night

Hey again..
I read through some e-portfolio stuff just then,
And i've just noticed how much you learn from just experimenting with all the different options and things that are on this website.
SOon i will be posting up all my files and documents.
I also read through the module and it was pretty good, and i have a better idea of how to structure everything so that it will be neat and easy to operate.
My experience so far in my learning journey for this subject has been a very enjoyable and non-stressfull development as i learn more and more new things about computer software and options.
Because i like computers it makes this subject even more enjoyable.
This way i will be able to learn and also keep a record of all my learnings not only from this subject but from other subjects aswell.

Well its getting late..
Untill next time,
Take care and god bless

Purpose Statement

My e-portfolio will share the opportunity of allowing myself to reflect on my past experiences and my personal life as well as creating a digital showcase of who I am and what my capabilities are. The e-portfolio will be used as a tool in presenting myself to a wide spread audience as well as to potential employers. I believe that having an e-portfolio will create many advantages particularly when pursuing an occupation. It provide employers with a more in depth idea of what type of person I am not just who I am academically or professionally.

Another monday

Well, im just sitting here now, infront of my computer resting and relaxing after an afternoon jog.
It was tiring but i have to get some exercise going on in my life.
So this morning was as usuall, i went to work (drum teaching) from 8.30am - 3.30pm.
That went alright.
Ohh about the weekend, on friday when i came home i had the local newspaper, photoshoot and interview. It didn't really take long, and we got asked a few questions about our band and things.
So it wasn't too bad.
On saturday i went to Marconi club in the morning. All the leaders of our church went there to have a big meeting about all our ministries in our church, which includes, childrens ministry, Youth ministry and young adults ministry.
So that went pretty well, after that i had to go to work at my parents restaurant.
There was a booking for 70 people. It was a little girls b'day party. She was turning 4 years old.
There was so many people! i've gotta say, thats one lucky girl.

Then next comes sunday! I picked up my little cousines in the morning to take them to sunday school and kids club at my church.
It was their first ever visit, so they were abit shy.. but at the end of they day they really liked it and asked me if they could come back next week!
So i was happy about that! =)
So sunday was fun, church was good and yeah.. always good for fellowship.
Thats about it from what i've done so far.

E-portfolio:
Now about this subject, i find it really helpfull and i've learnt allot about structure and academic recording through this subject alone.
This is a great way to keep a record of all me learnings. In the last few classes i have started to create folders for all my artefacts. So it is now time to post up some files and texts in those folder.

Well untill next time,
take care and god bless,

VTEC yo!!!

On Saturday night was my close mates 21st birthday and when I saw him that night, his car was gone. Gone as in he sold it. I was very devastated as I loved his car as it epitomised the dominance of VTEC in the automotive industry. He sold his white Integra type R and now it would never be seen again. What a great present... to never see your car again.

Well the reason why I brought this up is not to blab on about my weekend. However, it is to bring up a topic that is related to one of my artefacts on my e-portfolio. This has led to me discussing different VTEC powerplants and which car has which engine. It was because of that night that led me to come up with an artefact where I can compare and contrast my car with his car and demonstrate to the audience the variations between the two especially.

All these artefacts will placed in the Temple of VTEC folder as this section will discuss how VTEC works and why it has become so popular for young enthusiasts. This will also be related to another one of my artefacts called Project Teg where one car would be turned into a NA machine.

Contemplating...

Thinking back about the times when I first started this subject, I was very sceptical that it would ever help me with my studies as there was no theories or application what so ever. It was rather more practical based.

However, it was during the times in class that I would always learn something new. I don't have a strong background in computers so I think that is one of the contributing factors that led me think so negatively.

At the moment, I am looking at my diagram that I created as one of my assignment requirements and I can see the structure that my e-portfolio will be constructed. Whilst looking at it, it sometimes gives me a headache. I can certainly visualise how my e-portfolio will look like and its end result. I can see something really neat and well presented but I guess it just depends on how motivated I am to progressively update it.

I know for a fact that it is not going to take a few minutes to complete this, but weeks. Only time would tell as to how far I go with my artefacts that I put in my e-portfolio.

So what is e-portfolio?

I remember the first time I heard about this subject called e-portfolio and I was thinking to myself "oh my! not a computer subject." But during the following weeks that came, I started to see how things started to form and take shape in this subject.

The word e-portfolio did not ring any bells in my head and I had no clue as to what it was. I knew for a fact that it would be computer based with the letter 'E' in the word which stands for electronic.

So after all those weeks porcrastinating about my learning in this subject, I have finally understood what e-portfolio is and why it is so useful. I know now that an e-portfolio is a well designed collection of electronic documents that demonstrate my skills, education, personal development and the benefits it offer to my audience.

From a personal perspective, I think creating this e-portfolio will allow me to draw on my experiences and share stories that I would like to reveal by taking others to join in on a journey with me. That way, I will have to communicate, learn and assemble all these documents easily in my e-portfolio.

I hope that I continue to update this e-portfolio on a regular basis as I think it will benefit me in the long run. As long I don't get lazy, I'm very positive that this will be one e-portfolio where the benefits will outweigh the time put into it.

1st Blog! - Episode 1

Alrights, first blog ever for this e-portfolio. There's nothing much on my site atm, but i'll upload new things throughout the coming week and hopefully, by then, i'll have satisfied the criteria for this subject =)

Time has flew by pretty quickly too! I can't believe it's the end of 1st year already... only a few more weeks left... wonder if next year's going to be as fun?

On the other hand, I've started working several shifts at Cotton On World Square and that's been freaking tiring T_T" But hey, it's always a great learning experience when starting out in a new job what with meeting new people and all.

We'll see how this all unfolds in the next episode, so until then, hold on tight ^_^

My first year at University

What a year it has been, my first year at uni has been a rather interesting experience. The jump from High School to university was very different, much like the jump that i experienced from yr 10 - yr 11.

At the beginning of my first semester i felt rather uneasy when i was in my classes, not seeing familiar faces like i use to back in High school felt very akward. But soon i began making friends and started feeling normal again and found uni that much more enjoyable.

My first semester subjects consisted of , Adult Learning And Work, Human Resource development in organisations, Managing people and organisations and Language, Culture and Communications.

This semester i am about to complete another four subjects; E-portfolio, Knowledge management, Analysing organisational needs and Work and people.

I am still in the middle of an assessment block and am looking forward to a long summer break, fingers crossed i didn't fail anything!!

First Blog

Welcome to my very first entry on my E-portfolio, I am currently in my E-portfolio class and have been instructed to blog. The reason why i have created this E-portfolio is to allow others (employers in particular) to gain an insight of who i am in a more personal level rather than just judging me by my resume. With an E-portfolio they are able to have a look at how i am on a professional and social level.
This E-portfolio will have pictures, text documents, audio and video that will reflect on who i am and what i aim to be/achieve.
